Out of the Shadows
An Exoloration of Dark Paganism and Magick

Understanding Darkness

This chapter is broken down into several sections to delve into what we associate as darkness.

First, since the term darkness is so broad, we explore the aspects of darkness and break it down into its component parts.

The chapter then delves into the imagery associated with darkness including death, cemeteries and many archetypal characters such as the vampire and wizard. As a continuation of this imagery, The Night is given its own section where we explore how our views of the night have changed from past to present.

Finally, we distinguish evil from darkness and explore where "evil" fits in and does not fit in when discussing darkness.
