I personally don't look at studying dark paganism as a way to court danger. In my path as in many others there are war gods and goddess that some other pagans might consider "dark". but are the most popular and powerful ones.
My personal life has taught me that you can't go fully one side or the other; either way is courting for trouble. Simply becasue then you blind yourself. The Buddists and many Ceremonial magicians use the "middle way" Which i feel is far more apporiate.
I look at dark paganism as a way to expand my studies. The trickster gods are there to keep us on our toes, but how do you reconize them. if you do not take a good look at whats behind the tree, how do you know whats there?
