Nail food

I am a professional guitar player.
The nails of my right hand are precious - I cannot work without them.
Two nails are constantly splitting - vertically - parallel to the slightly visible lines.
I file them down, allow them to grow, then a split appears. This is a new experience.
Do I need some kind of vitamin supplement or externally applied stuff?
