Definately see a doctor. What might be happening is that the tear is travelling down the nail as it grows. For God's sake don't put use your hand, let alone put it in your handbag; use the other hand.
I cannot belive that you put acrylic in the wound.
I once had my finger slammed in a car door. A load of blood built up underneath it and the whole nail eventually detached itself about a week later. Bare nailbeds are gross. The new nail grew back fine, just a bit thicker.
