nail bed?

I am wondering if anyone ever heard over my problem. It is that the area of my finger where my fingernails connect to my finger is getting smaller on some of my fingers. So when I cut my nails short, they look terrible. and misshapped.
I hope I explained this so you can understand it. Let me try one more way. Ok so if I let my nails grow the part that grows isn't connected to the finger and is whitish not pink, like everyone else, but in my case, I get more white, deeper white, and white on the sides too. Does this make sense? I tried to Google it but I have no idea what to write. Thanx, Concerned.
