Ahh, here is where things get a bit sticky. I, personally, if I were looking to hire someone, would have no problems with a man wearing nail polish, or a dress, or whatever he wanted to wear as long as he was clean and neat and had the qualifications I was looking for. And if my huband wanted to wear polish or a dress, I can honestly say (honestly!!!) that I would have no problems with that, either. But that's just me, and unfortunately, many people do not share my appreciation for the individuality that makes us all unique. I've worked at places where there has been a very strict dress code: no visible tattoos, no unusual hair color, no miniskirts, shirt and tie for the men, and so on...one place even went so far as to put a limit on the colors of polish you could wear: only red, clear, or French manicure...:~(. And I've worked in a few places where none of that really mattered and one could wear whatever one wanted, including purple hair and minis. It's up to the employers to dictate dress codes, so I don't think we will see anything really unusual at the bank anytime soon because of the belief that a certain "Accepted Mode Of Dress" equals "A Certain Kind Of Person". Sad, but true.
As for taking a new guy home to meet my parents, it was my parents who instilled these ideas in the first place, so I don't think they'd have a problem with me showing up with a guy in women's clothes. My mom used to say, "It's how people TREAT you that matters!" I couldn't agree more.
