Have you tried a lighter shade of polish, like a pearl white or frosted grey or ice blue, or maybe a pale pink or clear polish (or clear polish with glitter in it)? These colors don't show up like a black-red would, they're subtle, and thus maybe more parent-friendly. Have you talked with your parents as to what issues they have with you wanting to wear polish? Do you know why they disapprove of this? As for being from a small town and wondering how the yokels will react to your manicure, let me say that I was the first girl in my town (maybe even the entire state) to sport a Mowhawk, and that was over 15 years ago. I got a lot of stares/comments/gaping rednecks, all right, but it's all about attitude. Nail polish is a lot less of a committment than that, so just be happy, hold your head up, and who cares what all those bumpkins think--they don't have your sense of style, do they!
