BAD HABIT!

I can't stop picking at my nails! I don't bite them, I pick at them. I do it subconsciously, and by the time I realize what I'm doing, it's too late. It takes forever for them to grow even a little bit. Not only that, but I can't keep nail polish on, either. I'll paint my nails, and it'll stay on for about an hour or two, then I start picking at it, and, once again, by the time I realize it, it's too late! What can I do to stop picking at them? And how do I get them to grow faster?
