Nail extension questions

Hey all,
I was wondering about getting nail extensions because I have a tendency to pick my teeth with my nails...I know it's gross, but I feel the need to explain myself here. It's sort of like biting my nails, I guess, except instead of making them short it just kind of makes them a bit weak.

I have a few questions to ask about getitng nail extensions, or just longer nails in general.

1) How much will it cost on average? I've read online some places that do them for $5 per nail. That's a bit pricey, but if it'll get me to stop messing with my nails, I'd pay it. ;_;

2) I'm majoring in Computer Information Systems in my local community college. This area of study involves a lot of typing and coding and junk. Do you think it would take a while to get used to typing with longer nails? Would I make more mistakes in my typing?

3) About how long does it take to get a full set of nail extensions?

and my last question, I swear...

4) How long should my nails be before they'd be considered tacky? (I'm not goth, I just want a French Manicure :p) I was thinking like somewhere from 0.75 to 1.0 cm long, but I'd like to hear opinions. My real nails are about 0.4 cm at their longest.
