well i do both gel and acrylic i charge more for gel because they last longer. gel nails are lighter and more flexable(up to working length) and will defy breaks that would have sent acrylic flying. i dont do the perm colour gels because it is an awful mess i only do french gel. (you can polish them with regular polish.)

i have worn both the gels and acrylic and i really like the french gel over the french acrylic but you are going to get a stronger loooonng nail with acrylic..

one is not better than the other they are actually chemicaly very similar(sister products) if u are alergic to acrylic you are going to be even more alergic to gel.

my recommendation is to go to a REAL nail tech in a REAL salon not a cheap assembly line salon.
remember you get what you pay for.
