Out of the Shadows
Religion is a six-dimensional organis, typically containing doctrines,
myths, ehtical teachings, rituals, and social institutions, and animated by
religious experiences of various kinds.
Religion is a system of symbols which acts to establish powerful,
pervasive and long lasting moods and motivation in people by formulating
conceptions of a general order of existence and clothing these conceptions eith
such and aura of factuality that the moods and motivations seem uniquily
Religion is that which provides the overall blueprint by which persons
organize their lives, which meaning to one's actions and sense of identity to
the person. Such a blueprint, though, is only maintained in conversation with
other people share it, so it would seem appropriate to require as part of a
definition of religion some verbalization of the meaning-system, something that
stands as its basic myth, and some form of social contact of sufficient
regularity to allow that conversation to go on.
Religion is a common consensus of the group, two or more, who try and
relate their experience of the divine through symbols, language, myths, rituals
etc. It It is a mirror to reflect the individual and societal experience in
relationship with the ultimate/divine/void.
