Diary of Dreams is the brainchild of Accession's founder and owner Adrian Hates. Together with guitarist Alistair Kane he released the first album in 1994. Cholymelan received praise from both the underground media as well as the listeners, but with the release of the second album, End of Flowers, in 1996 the snowball really started rolling. The album was the first release for Accession Records and shortly after, the label was joined by a second band, Lady Besery's Garden. End of Flowers gave Diary a permanent place in the goth/darkwave scene and several tracks were featured on compilations. The combination of orchestral compositions and intimate piano parts, layered with emotional and cryptic lyrics, seemed to strike a chord with many listeners and the band's fanbase rapidly increased.

No rest for Adrian and Alistair however, because merely a year later the third album came out, titled Bird Without Wings. More praise followed, together with more touring as well. At this time the design of the cd had reached a superb quality, following a certain style since Cholymelan and providing high quality graphics, layout and a beautiful booklet. Diary of Dreams was now definitely a force to be reckoned with and as Adrian managed to top off the quality of the previous album with each new release Diary achieved underground cult status in not only Europe, but all over the world.

In 1998 the line-up changed and Olaf Schaning and Christian Berghoff were added to the band, creating a steady base for live performances and introducing new ideas and visions to the production of the fourth album.

Psychoma? was released in early 98 and this time the music incorporated even more sounds and sequences. However, it was done so skillfully that nothing of the intimacy and original Diary sound was lost, creating the next step in the band's history with gorgeous songs and philosophical lyrics.

That same year saw the rerelease of Cholymelan, now with artwork the way Adrian had intended it to be and 4 additional songs that had either not been released or were only to be found on rare compilations.

Diary of Dreams met up to the expectations that they had created with their prolific way of recording new material by releasing new material in spring of 1999 already. Moments of Bloom serves as an introduction for new listeners, combining 2 songs of each previous album with 4 new tracks, but doesn't disappoint the long-time fans either. Each song has been reworked remastered and all the vocals have been rerecorded for the album, offering new interpretations and versions of some of Diary's best songs.

Within less than a year after the release of Moments of Bloom Adrian is expecting to release the next chapter of his diary, hinting at a return to the sound of Cholymelan and End of Flowers and hoping to conquer the US as well now that the band has signed with Metropolis Records for their US releases and distribution.
