Faith And The Muse are a rarity in these times. A duo, composed of William Faith and Monica Richards, Faith And The Muse have managed to gain the attention of an impossibly vast assortment of music fans, ranging from Gothic, Darkwave and Industrial to Celtic, Classical and Ethereal/Ambient. Conceived in March of 1993, Faith And The Muse came together with the intention of taking music to new extremes. The band performs an astounding array of musics, easily transcending standard Gothic Rock strictures, while still retaining the dark aesthetic. Faith And The Muse weave their music using a surreal mixture of Classical, traditional/ethnic influences (Celtic, Eastern, etc.), and dark rock stylings, veiled in imagery that travels the spheres and the shadows. Elyria, the debut release from the band, was released in June of 1994 to immediate and widespread acclaim from critics and fans alike. The album surpassed all possible expectations in every regard, and yielded the college radio and club dancefloor hit Sparks. In performance, Faith And The Muse have gained a reputation all over the US and Europe for strong and theatrical live shows. The band earned themselves a place deep in the hearts of American music lovers as a part of 1994's landmark Procession tour (also featuring Rosetta Stone [UK], Das Ich [Germany] and Corpus Delecti [France]) before charming the whole of Europe on their subsequent 30-date tour there, spanning 11 countries In 1995 they returned to Germany for an extremely successful tour supporting the release of the film The Crow. This project was conceived and promoted by Buena Vista/Disney Pictures. June 1996 bore witness to the release of the band's long-awaited follow up, Annwyn, Beneath the Waves. Produced by the band along with the powerful talents of co-producer/engineer Chad Blinman, this album covers an even larger area of music. Loosely based on Welsh Celtic myths, Annwyn, Beneath the Waves is a theatrical concept album: a musical journey down ancestral pathways and back full-circle to a concentrated burst of illumination in the light of our own day... From the powerful rush of "The Silver Circle" to the silk water ambience of The Sea Angler, from the bitter roar of Cernunnos to the celtic throb of Branwen Slayne, Annwyn, Beneath the Waves is a masterwork, destined to bring Faith And The Muse to bright new heights of acclaim and notariety. On the heels of the release of Annwyn... the band was invited to perform at Germany's prestigious Zillo Open-Air Festival in June. Playing alongside the likes of Mother Destruction and The Nefilim, Faith And The Muse debuted many of the new songs from Annwyn, Beneath the Waves to a crowd of more than 7,000 enthusiastic fans. FAITH AND THE MUSE headlined 1996's Apparition tour (also featuring Sunshine Blind, Malign & Ichor, the successor to Procession) and featured the renowned skills of John K (Sub Version), Jeremy (Element) and Chad Blinman (Ichor, Das Ich).
