Originally from Mount Clemens, Michigan, G. Robert Perye III (a.k.a. Macross, Mac) currently lives in Lansing, Michigan with his fiancé Monica and is employed by New Horizons CLC of southeast Michigan as the Computer Services Division rep for the East Lansing Office. "I'm a computer geek", says Mac, "I live eat and breathe the network and I can't imagine being happier in any other occupation." Macross first encountered alt.gothic back in late 1992/early 1993 and started posting in 1994. He wasn't really into the scene fully until he attended Convergence 2 in Boston. It was then that he knew he had truly found his "home". "Since then I've made more true friends and seen more new places than I ever could or would have had I not fallen in love with the net.goth scene." Assisting the convergence committees by organizing ride and room shares for those folks attending the event, and helping to set up and moderating mailing lists, Mac often acts as a first line of defense in the final weeks before the event. He answers questions, etc. to give the committees more time to concentrate on finalizing plans and taking care of the hundreds of last minute issues that always crop up. Recently this also included fixing cars, computers and doing anything else that needs to be done at a moment's notice during the events. Anyone following the Convergence 6 voting no doubt recognizes Macross as the "official tally guy." During Convergence 5, Heather Spear (co-organizer of Convergence I and IV) mentioned the idea to Macross since Catholic Matt, who had handled the vote up 'til then was very busy with his new career. With some coaxing from Axel (a Toronto net.goth), Mac stepped up from his comfortable seat handling Convergence Travel to take on the challenge of a fair vote, which he did with much success with the help of his good friend Briggs' programming expertise. Locally Macross started the DETgoth mailing list in 1997, which he still moderates, to unite Goths in and around the Michigan region. He also runs Digitalangel, which houses his various projects and those of some of his friends, including Detroit gothic and his weekly radio show, In Perpetual Motion, which features music from net.goth bands and other gothic, industrial and electronic musicians from around the world. Aside from the scene, Macross is the proud parent of two very adorable guinea pigs, Abbot and Costello, as well as freshwater tropical fish and plants kept both at home and in his office. The pets aside, he loves driving around and working on his Chevrolet Suburbans. The Monster SSAV-1 has been to a couple convergences now and has become rather well known.
