Who runs this place?

This service is one of many free services created and maintained by John Coughlin. All of his sites can be found listed at waningmoon.com.

Why did he create it?

Because he could... seriously. Designing sites is a hobby he enjoys so why not put it to use to benefit others who share similar interests to him?

Why it is free?

Because it should be! I hate feeling exploited and I am sure you do to. I welcome donations because I do pay alot for the servers all this runs on but I would rather that be an option than make the site commercial.

Whatever... the point is this type of service should be free. My goal is to promote community - not make a profit, although financial support is always welcome!

What is the catch?

None... well actually that depends. Businesses that want to place ads in the Business-Professional Listings area must pay a small fee since this is really a service for the individuals within the Pagan community and not the businesses that make a profit from it. This is only for the Business-Professional Listings area because I would assume that other areas would be places we would want businesses to use, like for job postings. So those areas remain free to businesses since I want to encourage them to use it to benefit the community. (Click here for more details.)

I also added a Personals section which requires a small fee since otherwise the server would be bogged down with vanity ads. The very small fee makes sure to limit posts in that section to the very serious only. My PaganPersonals.net is recommended for online personal ads anyway but in the past people still liked to post personal ads here too so I caved in and added the option.

So appart from the Business and Personals categories, all other sections are 100% free! If you want to have ads features, bold, or highlighted there is a small fee since let's face it, if I made those options free every ad would use them and defeat the purpose!

Am I a business?

When if doubt, ask, but here is a basic definition of a business: If you want to post an ad selling items that you stock with the intention to sell, you are a business - doesn't matter if you do this from home. I do make exceptions to people who make really cool things and are just starting out, etc. But I prefer you ask than assume. I'm not out to make money from all this, but if I do not charge for businesses then this site will become a spam database and the legit ads will be hard to find. The "non-business" For Sale area was geared more towards people wanting to sell things they own and no longer want or no longer fit, etc. Businesses can also find this area useful but this is not a free ticket.

I want to support the community, and hence why the rest of the site is free to businesses, such as clubs wanting to advertise, etc. But the For Sale area can easily be abused and so I have the special fee requirements for businesses to keep that under control. Please work with me on this! (Click here for more details.)

Do you sell our names or send junk mail?

The Pagan Classifieds is committed to ensuring complete confidentiality. Any personal information gathered during registration (real name and email address) is never made public and is used solely for security reasons and confirmation. Of course if you choose to list your email address in your ads then I can't stop others from sending you junk mail. This is why I always recommend using my confidential e-mail option.

As for ME emailing you... I need to confirm your e-mail address occasionally to delete accounts that bounce so once in a while I will send you a small newsletter of sorts letting you know what is new at waningmoon.com or particularly exciting in my rather dull life. I'll do this a few times a year at most, but nothing regularly.

Why do you now require email confirmation?

Registration allows me to give members more direct access to the system by confirming their e-mail address. This helps weed out pranksters who usually (but not always) would not want to give out a valid e-mail address. It also makes sure people are who they say they are. I'm sure you would not want someone posting a false ad in your name!

Is it safe?

As safe as anything in life that deals with people you don't know. Of course it always pays to be safe.

I am a Pagan Personals member, why doesn't my login work here?

This is a separate service run by the same person. The sites complement each other but do not share the same member database. Please register here as well.

I forgot my password, what do I do?

You can ask the system to resend your password to the e-mail acount you used to register.

I never got my confirmation code in e-mail, what's up??

First have the system resend your password. If it does not recognize your e-mail address you may have made a mistake during registration. Second make sure waningmoon.com emails are not being flagged as spam and deleted. If still don't get your confirmation code after 30 mins contact support

Why was my ad or account deleted?

If your e-mail bounces I will delete your account and ad since as far as I know you know longer exist. Also, if someone complains about you I may delete your ad until I can discuss it with you. If you spam members or are a business and try to sneak past my request for payment I will ban you from all my sites and alert my colleagues to do the same on their services.

Why was I banned from the site?

If you spam users, post fake ads, tried to sneak past a paid section, or in some way clearly came across as a troublemaker you will be banned. I don't have time to play games with fools. If you feel it was a mistake contact support.
